Jeffrey is a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER®(CFP®) with over 30 years of experience as a Financial Advisor. He started his career in 1994 with a Fortune 500 Financial Services company shortly after attaining his Bachelor of Sciences degree in Political Economy and a Bachelor of Arts in Communications from the University of Hartford. In 1997 he became the youngest recipient ever of the CFP® designation within that firm, which had over 1200 representatives.

After 30 years of building a successful practice with multiple Broker Dealers, Jeffrey merged his practice with Atlantic Wealth Advisors. AWA, an independent advisory firm with over $600 million in assets under advisement as of 03/28/2025 with locations in Glastonbury & Middletown, Connecticut has been associated with the independent Broker-Dealer Commonwealth Financial Network for 26 years. 

Over the years, Jeff has worked with many charities and organizations. For 15 years he sat with the Epilepsy Foundation of Connecticut. He organized and hosted their annual Mud Volleyball Fundraiser, alongside WCCC radio, that would have over 5000 participants each year, helping to raise over half of their annual operating budget. Jeff has organized cleanups at public parks. He has volunteered at soup kitchens. Currently Jeff teaches classes, volunteers, and mentors other prospective Foster and Adoptive families through DCF (Department of Children & Families). After Hurricane Sandy, Jeff spent significant time back in NY, organizing hundreds of thousands of dollars’ worth of donations of money and items, for families who were displaced and lost everything. Jeff also raises money for Cancer Sucks! a 501(c)3 corporation out of Oklahoma - with support of his network of national touring musicians. 

Jeffrey lives in Ellington, CT, with his wife Kathleen Backus, their daughter Jazmine, His son Shane and their dog Cocoa. When not working, they are seeing concerts (often on Cruise ships), out hiking, or tending to their gardens. In the past, Jeffrey was an endurance athlete, having participated in, and completed over 80 events including the brutal Gran Fondo bike race 3 times, and several 24+ hour events. 

Jeffrey continues his professional education, going to many national conferences and trainings all over the USA.  If we are not constantly learning new things, we are moving backwards.
